LOCAL FEATURES
Observing Wildlife
Blue Fox camp is ideal for observing the abundant local animal and bird wildlife.
During last year we observed: Moose, Bear, Bald Eagle, Herons, Hawks, Ducks, Loones, Cranes and
Deer. Several unique day trips, with challenging hiking to spectacular lookouts are available
close to camp. Sturdy comfortable boots for walking and portage are a must. Please bring
appropriate rain gear and insect repellent. A day pack for carrying your hiking gear and lots
of extra film is recommended.
Covered Bridge
The Covered Bridge spans the stream which runs through camp. Decorating the bridge are the
logging artifacts that form part of the history of both the camp and the area. This bridge
provides an ideal observation platform for the annual Rainbow spawning migration in early May.
The major spawning beds of Lake Kirkpatrick are up this stream and provide witness to the
perpetuation of the Rainbow Trout species. In addition, art observation decks were built
associated with this bridge so that artists can utilize this facility for sketching.
Brook Trout Fishery
The separate Brook Trout fishery lake is located one mile up the trail from camp. These
lakes are all inter-connected. Recently considerable emphasis has been placed on fly-fishing
in these pristine waters.
